Contacts

This is a private reference site, not a Lyon County or Minnesota government office. It cannot confirm custody, release a person, accept or post bond, or retrieve an official booking or release record. Contact the government office that created the record or controls the custody event.

Find the Right Lyon Office

For a Lyon County Jail custody or release question, start with the jail or Sheriff’s Records Division. The jail can address current operational questions, while Records handles requests for existing booking, custody, release, and booking-photo data. The county directs data requests to Records during normal business hours, but its data-request page does not publish exact office hours. Do not assign courthouse hours to Sheriff Records.

Lyon County Jail and Jail Records

611 West Main Street
Marshall, MN 56258
Phone: 507-929-6623
Facility operation: 24 hours a day
Records-request hours: normal business hours, with no precise schedule published

Lyon County Sheriff’s Records Division

611 West Main Street, PO Box 28
Marshall, MN 56258
Records designee Elizabeth Sieber: 507-929-6621
Email: ElizabethSieber@co.lyon.mn.us
General and responsible-authority line: 507-537-7666
Fax: 507-537-7428
Hours: requests are handled during normal business hours; no exact hours are posted

The official Sheriff data-request page links the request form and county policy. A focused request should identify the person and custody episode, then ask for existing data such as the booking sheet, admission time, actual release time, disposition, destination or receiving agency if public, and booking photograph. The county does not promise a fixed response period.

Lyon County District Court

607 West Main Street
Marshall, MN 56258
Phone: 507-706-7050
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The court is the source for Lyon County criminal case filings, orders, judgments, sentencing entries, and available copies. A court order can explain the legal authority for release, but Jail Records is the better source for the physical exit time. The official Lyon County District Court page provides courthouse details, while MCRO provides remote access to eligible state court records.

Minnesota Corrections and Supervision

MNDOC adult felony supervision
601 North Highway 59
Marshall, MN 56258
District Supervisor Brad Odegard: 507-476-4330
Fax: 612-473-5426

Lyon County Probation
607 West Main Street
Marshall, MN 56258
Rindy Filzen: 507-476-4340
Fax: 612-473-5427
Email: Rindy.Filzen@State.MN.US

MNDOC Central Records
Email: co-records.doc@state.mn.us

Use the MNDOC Public Viewer for a person committed to the Commissioner of Corrections who remains under state jurisdiction. Central Records can address public status or sentence questions that require the MNDOC ID. The Marshall MNDOC office handles adult felony supervision. Lyon County Probation handles adult misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, so the court disposition is the best routing clue.

Release Notifications

Minnesota VINE for county jail events
Main line: 1-877-664-8463
Support: 1-866-277-7477

MNDOC Victim Assistance and Minnesota Haven
Phone: 800-657-3830
Email: victimassistance.doc@state.mn.us

VINE covers Minnesota county jail custody events, including the Lyon County route. MNDOC prison notifications use Minnesota Haven through Victim Assistance instead. Neither service replaces direct confirmation from the jail, institution, or records office when an exact time or destination matters.

Choose the route that matches the question:

  • For a released person or an official release record, use the home search and records path, then contact Lyon Jail Records when exact local data are needed.
  • For supervision after release, check the Parole & Probation information and route the question by conviction level.
  • For same-day activity, follow the 24-Hour Release List fallback because Lyon County publishes no official release feed.
  • For a future date or alert, use Projected Release Date records and the VINELink Check for a county-jail event.
  • For the local facility, use the Lyon County Jail page in the footer and the jail contact above.
  • For a sentenced state prisoner, search MNDOC and contact Central Records or the listed institution for public status details.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the official BOP Inmate Locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator and the relevant federal court or agency record.
