Nature of the Service

This is a private reference site, not a branch of the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Lyon County Jail, Minnesota Department of Corrections, a court, or any other public agency. It does not store official custody or release records. It cannot confirm a person's current status, order or carry out a release, submit a records request for a visitor, or file court documents.

The site's role is limited to organizing routes to Lyon County inmate and jail-record resources, state and federal custody tools, and outside research services. Official information remains with the agency that created or maintains it.

Acceptable Use Rules

Use must be lawful, respectful, and consistent with the limited record-resource purpose of the service. A visitor must follow these rules:

• Do not use the website or its information in violation of any law.
• Do not use information to stalk, harass, intimidate, or threaten another person.
• Do not rely on site content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions.
• Do not try to enter accounts, servers, or systems without authorization.
• Do not operate bots, scrapers, or automated collection tools against the site.
• Do not interfere with performance, security, or another visitor's access.

No Consumer Reports or Screening

Lyon County Released Inmates is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It does not create background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports. Its advertising partners do not provide screening services through the site. By using the service, each visitor agrees not to use its content or linked results for:

• Hiring, retention, promotion, discipline, or termination decisions.
• Tenant selection, housing qualification, or lease decisions.
• Creditworthiness, lending terms, or insurance premiums.
• Licensing, permits, or eligibility for a government benefit.
• Any other decision covered by the FCRA or similar law.

Third-Party Destinations

Links may point to release records, sheriff or corrections pages, court and government portals, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. A link is offered for convenience and is not an endorsement. Lyon County Released Inmates does not control or accept responsibility for another site's content, privacy practices, data handling, availability, or security. Users should read the terms and policies at each destination.

Service Provided Without Warranties

The website, its text, and its features are supplied “as is” and “as available.” No express or implied warranty is made about:

• The accuracy, completeness, or current state of any information.
• Continuous or uninterrupted access to the service.
• Freedom from errors, bugs, harmful code, or security weaknesses.
• The scope, quality, or completeness of partner search results.

Custody status, court entries, and public records can change without notice. Nothing published here is an official statement from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Lyon County Jail, MNDOC, or another government agency. Public access to Minnesota government data is determined by the responsible agency under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, including Minn. Stat. § 13.03 and any more specific classification.

Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Lyon County Released Inmates and its operators will not be liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from access to, inability to access, reliance on, or use of the website, its content, or any linked service.

User Indemnity

Each user agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Lyon County Released Inmates, its operators, and its partners from claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and reasonable legal fees arising from that user's conduct, misuse of information, or violation of these Terms & Conditions.

Ownership of Site Materials

Original text, graphics, logos, layout, and code used by Lyon County Released Inmates belong to the site or its content partners. They may not be copied, republished, distributed, modified, or used to create another product without prior written permission, except where law expressly permits otherwise.

Changes to These Conditions

These terms may be updated at any time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted on this page. Continued use after posting means the user accepts the revised conditions.

Suspension or Loss of Access

Access to some or all of the website may be restricted, suspended, or ended at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice. This right includes action taken to address misuse, security concerns, or service needs.

Minnesota Law Applies

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute concerning the site or these terms must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in Minnesota.

If One Provision Is Invalid

If a court finds any provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be limited or adjusted only to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable.
